The Field Manual

Mastering the
Forecaddy Role.

Forecaddying is a game of focus, hustle, and hospitality. You are the "eyes" of the hole, ensuring the pace of play stays fast while providing a premium experience for every golfer.

🗓️

01. Preparation

Before Tournament Day

Check the West Woods Caddies portal for your specific hole assignments and required arrival times. Every course and tournament is different—knowing exactly where you need to be is the first step to success.

Know the Lines

Familiarize yourself with the boundary lines (Out of Bounds) and any local rules specific to your assigned hole.

Yardage Awareness

Be ready to provide rough yardages to the green or pin placement if a golfer asks for help.

🚩

02. The Signaling System

Communication is done via a white towel. Players on the tee box are counting on your signals to know whether they should move forward or hit a provisional ball.

Ball In Play

Action: Wave towel in a circle above your head.

This indicates the ball is safe and they are good to proceed.

Out of Bounds / Lost

Action: Point in direction of exit + wave towel back and forth.

Indicates the ball is out of play. Point exactly where it crossed the boundary.

Pro Tip: The Visual Handshake

When a group arrives at the tee box, wave to them immediately. This confirms you are paying attention and allows them to hit with confidence.

03. Fairway Etiquette

01

Find & Mark

After the shots are hit, hustle to locate every ball. Use a flag, small towel, or marker to identify the spot. NEVER touch or move the ball.

02

The Greeting

As golfers approach, greet them with respect. A simple "Nice shot, sir/ma'am" goes a long way. Stay professional and positive—your attitude directly impacts your tips.

03

Clear the Way

Once the player has located their ball, collect your marker and step back to a safe distance while they hit their next shot.
